About the project
The brief
The house had been lived in for decades with old wiring, iron pipework and a dark, divided ground floor. The owners wanted it brought up to date while keeping the character of the original rooms.
What we did
After the strip-out we replaced damaged joists, removed two load-bearing walls on steel, then rewired and replumbed the whole house with a new heating system. Original cornicing and fireplaces were kept and repaired; everything else was plastered and finished new.
The result
An open kitchen and living space at the back, two new bathrooms upstairs, and a house that is warm, properly wired and ready for the next few decades.
